On Tuesday, September 1: Water–Where It Comes From and Where We’re Headed

The featured speakers at the Villages Men’s Fun Social Club luncheon on Tuesday, September 1, will be John Varela, Director of the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors, and Mike Potter, Community Outreach Supervisor for Santa Clara Water.

Where does our water come from? How will major new water users affect our supply? What conservation challenges lie ahead? And what does the future hold for our region’s water resources?

With water issues making local headlines almost daily, this promises to be a timely and informative presentation. Our speakers will discuss these important questions, provide an overview of the Valley’s water system, and share their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing our community.

John Varela represents South County on the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors, serving Morgan Hill, Gilroy, the unincorporated community of San Martin, and portions of South San Jose. He is a former Morgan Hill mayor and city councilman

Mike Potter serves as Community Outreach Supervisor for Santa Clara Water. Before joining the Water District, he spent nine years managing Local Government Affairs for a major technology company and also served as District Director for two members of the California State Legislature.

Join us for what promises to be an engaging and informative look at one of our region’s most vital resources.
